Stay in Somerset

Discover peaceful places to stay in one of England's most welcoming counties.

From cosy cottages nestled in the countryside to welcoming caravan parks, peaceful campsites and motorhome stopovers, Somerset is a county that invites you to slow down and savour every moment.

I spent almost three wonderful years exploring this beautiful part of England. My journey began in Nancy, my motorhome, before I eventually settled into a lodge overlooking the Somerset Levels. During that time I discovered charming market towns, hidden villages, quiet rivers, ancient history and some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet.

Whether you're dreaming of exploring Glastonbury, wandering around Wells, enjoying the scenery around Langport, visiting Cheddar Gorge or discovering the many picturesque villages that dot the county, finding the right place to stay can make all the difference.

Here I'll be sharing my favourite places to stay across Somerset—from beautiful holiday cottages and welcoming campsites to peaceful caravan parks and some fantastic motorhome stopovers.

If you're new to motorhoming, you might not know that many pubs, farm shops, vineyards and other independent businesses welcome motorhomes to stay overnight free of charge, simply asking that you support their business by enjoying a meal, a drink or making a purchase while you're there. They're often fantastic alternatives to campsites and some of the most memorable places I've stayed.

Every recommendation you'll find here is somewhere I'd happily return to myself.

Whether you're planning a weekend escape, a touring holiday or simply looking for somewhere peaceful to park up for the night, I hope these guides help you discover your own perfect Somerset base.
